Advanced Ophthalmic Practice Certificate

Dates of full program:

9th February 2026 – 29th November 2026

In partnership with the International Opticians Association, this certificate consists of 5 short courses 6 weeks in duration each. They are suitable people seeking to enter the ophthalmic industry as well as those who are experienced. 

The short courses may be done on their own. They are online with live Zoom sessions as well. If all 5 are completed successfully, an Advanced Ophthalmic Practice Certificate will be issued to the candidate.

Advanced Ophthalmic Optics 1 (AOO1) 

Dates:

16th February-17th May 2026

This 13-week program is aimed at optometrists and qualified and/or experienced optical dispensers who wish to further their ophthalmic optics knowledge and its applications in practice CPD points have been accredited by the Optometry Board of Australia and the General Optical Council UK. The course is online with live Zoom sessions once a week.

Topics covered include:

1. Fundamental ophthalmic optics 

2. Advanced ophthalmic optics (2 weeks) 

3. Prism 

4. Aspheric lenses 

5. Predicting lens performance 

6. Advanced lens and PPL selection (2 weeks) 

7. Degressive, anti-fatigue lenses

8. Measurement and measuring devices 

9. Measurement compensations 

10. The future and ocular biometry

11. Case studies

Full fee $1500USD, 25% discount for early registrations. 

Australian fee $2310AUD (including GST), 25% discount for early registrations.

Advanced Ophthalmic Optics 2 (AOO2) Small Group Mentorship Program

Dates: Start based on interest

This program is for practitioners who have completed AOO1 and are wishing to take their learning and implement them within their practice. This is 10 session bespoke program where the practitioners choose their topics. It is case and research-based program aimed to elevate your knowledge,  analytical and critical thinking skills in practice. 

Maximum group size is 5. One-hour live sessions run fortnightly and there is a total of 10 sessions. Fee is $350USD total, Australian fee $550AUD (including GST).

Individual Practice Mentorship Program

Dates: Any time

This program is for existing practices and new practice owners or people who wish to set up new greenfield practice. This bespoke program study topics tailored for the individual practitioners so they may develop and grow their understanding of ophthalmic optics within their specific practice environment. At least one practitioner must have completed the AOO1 program to commence.

Fee is quoted based on each individual practice requirement.
