Can’t catch a break?

A novel approach towards practice modelling for the independent optometry owner.

Optometry as a profession has progressed significantly over the past 20 years with the introduction of therapeutics as well as advancements in treatments and technologies. The COVID outbreak saw many reassessing their lives and priorities where independent optometry practice owners found a number of their support staff leaving the industry altogether.

This webinar will look at how Thao Hannaford managed the lack of skilled support staff at her practice and how it unexpectedly delivered positive outcomes. Jacob Owen will also discuss from his perspective, the benefits of embracing full scope optometry as an early career optometrist.

At the completion of the CPD activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Acknowledge the various challenges facing independent practice owners
  2. Think outside of the current models of an optometry practice
  3. Become mentors for graduate optometrists by creating fulfilling career pathways for the future of optometry
